Childnet Attracts New Funding Partners 15 March 2006
Childnet International announced today that it has been able to attract the necessary funding partners to be able to continue its important work from 1st April onwards.
Following the earlier announcement about Childnet’s funding challenge on the 27th January, 2006, Childnet received an overwhelming response from a range of organisations, individuals and existing funders who reinforced their support and commitment to Childnet’s work. As a result, Childnet has managed to secure funding and new partnerships and the board of Trustees confirmed on March 13th that Childnet should continue and redundancy notices that had previously been issued to staff be withdrawn.
Dr Alice Swann, Childnet’s Chair of Trustees says,
“We are delighted that Childnet’s work can continue and we are committed to ensuring that we build successful longer-term partnerships as well as review the key strategic priorities for Childnet’s work going forward. We are grateful to all those who have committed to ongoing support for our work and helping us ensure that our work can continue and has maximum impact and relevancy.”
Working directly with children will continue to be a key priority for the Childnet team and over the coming 12 months Childnet hopes to be able to expand the work of helping young people create their own effective online learning resources for their peers. The recent “SORTED” resource which Childnet launched with support from BT earlier this month gives the model for future work of this kind. It is vital that we continue to find further parties interested in supporting and promoting this child-centric work.
Announcements regarding specific partnerships and new work will be made over the coming weeks and months.
