Welcome to Know IT All

Know IT All is a set of award-winning resources developed by children’s internet charity Childnet International to help educate both young people, parents and teachers about safe and positive use of the internet.

Graphic: The KIA presentationThe Know IT All for Parents and Carers presentation highlights the gap that exists between children’s real experience online and adult awareness of these experiences. The presentation contains information about positive ways young people are using different technologies, what the risks are to users and it outlines practical advice in avoiding or minimising risks when using online and mobile technologies.

Currently there are 4 main KIA CD-ROM resources for Parents, Teachers, Trainees and Volunteers. Select the links below to access these resources.

Know IT All for Parents
Know IT All for parents contains advice for parents and carers, and a special section for children and young people.

The full content from the CD ROM is available online here including a summary of the advice in Arabic, Mandarin, Polish, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Urdu, and British Sign Language.

Know IT All for trainee teachers
Know IT All for trainee teachers is aimed at trainee teachers entering the teaching profession to help them understand the e-safety issues for students.

The website includes a short video overview of e-safety topics, as well as details about a resource which teacher training institutions can order and activities for use on placement.

There is also advice on further reading and browsing and a glossary

Know IT All for teachers
Know IT All for teachers has been produced for teachers in secondary schools and includes a video introduction to the issues.

The site highlights how e-safety can be embedded in the curriculum and also contains a unique interactive guide linking directly to a range of leading e-safety resources which you can use in your school.

Know IT All for Volunteers
Getting to Know IT All was a special presentation designed for volunteers to deliver in schools.

The programme was piloted in 2005 and has now been updated and rolled out by CEOP, (Child Exploitation Online Protection Centre) as part of their education programme called Thinkuknow.
